John Piper Collection MP3 | John Piper
This collection contains every message by John Piper which we carry. It has three of his “Advent poems,” fictional poems which he writes and reads for his church during Advent seasons. The first of these poems, “Timothy,” considers Timothy and his relationship with his family and with Paul. “Mary Magdalene” portrays the power of Christ to save anyone, even on the brink of death, and discusses God's use of suffering. The third poem, “The Innkeeper,” discusses the Innkeeper who housed Jesus as an infant. The two-part sermon series “Do Not Let Sin Reign in Your Mortal Body” covers Romans 6:11-14. They make a powerful plea for really fighting sin and have helped dozens of our own friends. “Doing Missions When Dying Is Gain” challenges us that we must suffer if we are to take the gospel to the whole world, but also that the prize for this is satisfying. “For Whom Did Christ Taste Death?” speaks on the definite work of Christ’s atonement from Hebrews 2:9. God’s part and man’s part in salvation are addressed in “How to Get a Camel Through a Needle’s Eye.” “How to Kill Sin” is a tremendous, three-part series on Romans 8:10-17, clearly setting forth the manner in which believers are to make war against their flesh. “The Word Became Flesh” teaches on John 1:1-18 and the incarnation of Christ. “Jesus Declares His Kingship” is an amazing, highly-recommended evangelistic message about the exalted kingship of our risen Lord and Savior. According to “Learning to Pray in the Spirit and the Word,” Jude 17-25 addresses prayer in a way that many have never considered it, offering a theology of hope and encouragement in praying. The sermon “Don’t Waste Your Life” was later expanded into a book by Piper, and it especially urges Christians to serve God to the end rather than retiring, as the rest of our culture does.
